Bookkeeping Pricing Clear, Fixed Quotes With No Surprises

Bookkeeping pricing at Big Accountants is built around your business, quoted in writing before any work starts and reviewed only when your scope changes. Choose a fixed monthly fee, hourly billing or a price per task.

  • Written quoteBefore any work starts
  • Three modelsMonthly, hourly or per task
  • Competitive pricingReviewed team, not one hire

Our bookkeeping pricing is simple to understand: we learn how your business runs, recommend a pricing model and send a written quote with the exact scope. You know what you will pay before we start, and the price only changes if the work changes.

We do not publish a rate card, because two businesses with the same revenue can need very different work. A retailer with three sales channels, inventory and twelve bank feeds needs more than a consultant with one account and twenty invoices a month. A tailored quote is fairer to both.

Every quote includes
  • The exact scope of work, in writing
  • Your pricing model and billing cycle
  • Your named team and review process
  • Report list and delivery dates
  • What would trigger a price review

Price drivers

What Drives Your Bookkeeping Pricing

These are the factors we look at on every free call. Revenue on its own tells us very little about the work involved.

Transaction volume

How many sales, expenses and transfers we record each month.

Accounts to reconcile

Bank, credit card, loan, merchant and payment processor accounts.

Entities and locations

Separate companies, classes or locations that need their own reporting.

Inventory and job costing

Stock, cost of goods sold or project costing add depth to every close.

State of your books

Current, reconciled books start faster than books that need catching up.

Reporting needs

Standard statements, or budgets, variance and management packs.

Payables and receivables

Bill pay, invoicing and collections follow up add to the scope.

Software and integrations

Your accounting platform plus the apps feeding it data.

The real comparison

Outsourced Bookkeeping Pricing vs Hiring In House

When you compare bookkeeping pricing with a hire, compare the full cost. Salary is only part of it.

  • Benefits make up 30% of what private employers spend on compensation, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, June 2026
  • Recruiting, training, software seats and cover for holidays come on top
  • One employee means no independent review of the work
  • Outsourcing gives you a reviewed team at competitive pricing, sized to your workload

FAQ

Bookkeeping Pricing FAQs

How much do bookkeeping services cost?

Bookkeeping pricing depends on transaction volume, the number of accounts to reconcile, entities, inventory, reporting needs and the current state of your books. We quote in writing after a free call, using a fixed monthly fee, hourly billing or a price per task.

Why don’t you publish your prices?

Two businesses with the same revenue can need very different work. A tailored written quote means you pay for the work your business actually needs, not an average built for someone else.

Is a fixed monthly fee or hourly billing better?

A fixed monthly fee suits steady, recurring work because the cost is predictable. Hourly billing suits variable or seasonal work. Defined projects such as catch up work are usually best priced per task.

Can my price change after we start?

Only if your scope changes, for example a large rise in transactions, a new entity or added services. We tell you before any change and confirm the new price in writing.

Is catch up bookkeeping included in the monthly fee?

No. Catch up work is quoted separately as a fixed project, so your monthly fee reflects only ongoing work once the books are current.

Is the free call really free?

Yes. The call and the written quote are free, and there is no obligation to go ahead.

Do you charge for software?

Your accounting software subscription stays in your name and is billed to you by the provider. Our pricing covers our team’s work, not the software.

Are tax returns included in bookkeeping pricing?

Tax return preparation is quoted separately. Your monthly bookkeeping produces the reconciled records your tax preparer, or our tax team, needs at year end.
